Overview

Witness over 380 years of history at The Guards Museum. This London museum provides an exclusive insight into the Foot Guards and the five Regiments of Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards. To anyone interested in the military heritage of these world-famous soldiers, this museum is a must-see.

The Guards Museum was created as an educational tool for the newest intake of guardsmen and includes details of the nature and origin of their ceremonial duties right up to their contemporary roles. Explore Royal coronations (and executions!) and discover the journeys the guards emabrked on, from guarding the palace to guarding the nation.

Set opposite St James Park in royal grounds, the museum also gives an excellent overview of the importance of the Royal Family to the nation throughout history and their long association with the military.

Dont miss: the preparation for the world-famous Changing of the Guard ceremony is located just next door to the museum! You can watch the New Guard preparing to march to their duties at Buckingham Palace from 10:15AM-11AM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Wellington Barracks.

Yes. The Guards Museum is family-friendly and offers activities and interactive exhibits for children, including children's trails, code-breaking activities and the opportunity to try on Guards uniforms. It is particularly suitable for children aged 5–12.
Can you take photographs inside The Guards Museum?
Yes. Visitors are welcome to take photographs for personal, non-commercial use throughout the museum. Flash photography is not permitted.
Can you see the Changing of the Guard from The Guards Museum?
No. The Guards Museum is located next to Wellington Barracks, where you can watch the New Guard form up and march towards Buckingham Palace. The actual Changing of the Guard takes place at Buckingham Palace, so you will need to leave the museum to watch the ceremony there.
Is there a café at The Guards Museum?
No. The museum does not have a café. Visitors can use the outdoor seating on Chapel Square or visit one of the nearby cafés in St James’s Park.

Cool, quiet, spacious, historical. Plenty to see and learn

Was not so easy to find. Google maps sent us to the back of the entry . Nevertheless was very good to See. The staff was very very friendly and very willing to explain what to See. The Audio Guide was also very good but the staff added the special extra. Almost no people visited at that time and it was very relaxing for us. We spent far more time than expected (45min to 1 Hour). After the crowded other sights it was very nice there. My Child got a quizz to Full out and was very eager to get it all. We enjoyed it a lot

Hier kann man für £ 5 auch eine Uniform anziehen. Wir haben das noch mitgenommen, weil noch Zeit war. War sehr schön. Hier war nichts los also ca 4 Leute außer uns. Also wen es interessiert, ohne Probleme. Ein bisschen schade, ich denke so wenig los da halt keine Top Attraktion.
