What you'll do
A visit to the Royal Borough of Greenwich wouldn’t be complete without exploring the extraordinary Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most breathtaking interiors.
This iconic landmark is rich in over 600 years of history and holds special significance as the birthplace of Henry VIII. Along with its historical allure, it also stands as the UK’s top Heritage film location. Here, visitors have the unique chance to go behind the scenes and learn how this stunning setting has been featured in films and TV shows such as Bridgerton and James Bond.
With your London Pass, you can enjoy a guided tour of the site, departing every hour from the Visitor Centre. This optional, award-winning tour takes you through the Visitor Centre, the beautifully landscaped grounds, and the impressive Chapel of St Peter and St Paul. Discover the fascinating story of the estate, from its beginnings in the 1420s as a manor house, to its transformation into Greenwich Palace under Henry VII. The site’s transformation continued with Sir Christopher Wren’s design of the Royal Hospital for Seamen in 1694, which later became the Royal Naval College in 1873.
