What you'll do
Set across 2,000 acres of rolling Oxfordshire parkland, Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site perhaps best known as the birthplace of Winston Churchill—but its story goes far beyond that famous connection.
This day trip from London includes return coach travel with Evan Evans Tours, plus entry to the State Rooms, Formal Gardens, Butterfly House, and the room where Churchill was born.
Built in the early 18th century, the palace showcases richly decorated interiors, including tapestries celebrating the Duke of Marlborough’s victory at the Battle of Blenheim, ornate Boulle furniture and luxurious Savonnière carpets. Outside, the grounds were designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
There’s also plenty for families, from a giant yew maze and adventure playground to a miniature train named Winston.
Highlights
Palace State Rooms
See how the other half lived in opulent state rooms that contain priceless collections of portraits, furniture and carpets, including the historic 'Victories' tapestry series.
Formal Gardens
Stroll through landscaped gardens designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, including the majestic Water Terraces, the Italian Garden and the Churchill Memorial Garden.
Blenheim Palace Parkland
The Blenheim Palace Parkland stretches a further 2,000-or-so acres beyond the formal gardens, with plenty of scenic walking routes, including to the Cascades, the Queen Pool and the Grand Bridge.
The Walled Garden
The Walled Garden is home to multiple kid-friendly attractions, including the (seasonal) Butterfly House, the fiendish Marlborough Maze, the Adventure Play area and a pizzeria.
Miniature train rides
Nicknamed Winston, the miniature train runs to and fro between the Palace and the Walled Garden several times a day.
