The Kia Oval, also known as oval cricket stadium, is one of the world’s most famous sports grounds and has been home to Surrey County Cricket Club since 1845 also boasts the title of the birthplace of cricket’s Ashes, the host of football’s first-ever FA Cup Final in 1872, along with early rugby Internationals.

Tour Timings and Ticket Info

Explore the famous ground with a behind-the-scenes tour, step onto the outfield, see the commentary box, and much more. Tours run at 11 am Thursday to Saturday and last for around 90-minutes. The tour will start with tea or coffee in the Members’ Pavilion overlooking the pitch. Please note: Arrive at the John Edrich Gate (Oval Underground end) at least 15-minutes before the tour. You will be directed to the Pavilion reception.

  • The Oval played its part during World War II and was requisitioned to house anti-aircraft searchlights. It was then turned into a prisoner-of-war camp intended to hold enemy parachutists, though it was never used for this.
  • The famous Oval Gasholders were built in 1853 and are Grade II listed.
