Sights, Bites and Blockbusters: The Ultimate Royal Greenwich Discovery Tour

From astronomy to gastronomy, this tour uncovers Greenwich’s top treasures

What you'll do

A relaxed, royal neighbourhood walk through Greenwich that takes you through legendary filming locations, little-known markets, topped off with a tavern visit and delicious sweet treats.

From astronomy to gastronomy, Greenwich has a wealth of interesting spots to visit, and Maritime Greenwich is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Your tour starts at Greenwich Pier, and you’ll head into the Old Town. There, you’ll see the memorable Cutty Sark, the world’s last surviving tea clipper ship, which circumnavigated the globe and once ferried tea from China to London in record time.

Straddle the Prime Meridian Line, where all distances east and west are measured from. Follow in astronomers’ footsteps, put one foot in the east and one in the west, and learn about the development of Greenwich Mean Time.

Along the way, you’ll walk through Greenwich Park and see The Queen’s House, a former royal ‘House of Delights’ that hosted artists in residence, and legend has it, its very own ghost...

Nearby, you’ll make a stop at the National Maritime Museum, where you can get an overview of British naval history and maritime culture.

Together, you’ll visit a traditional Greenwich tavern for a refreshing local beer or cider. These pubs have been at the heart of the community for centuries and were once meeting places for sailors, merchants, and renowned authors such as Charles Dickens.

At bustling Greenwich Market, which sells everything from artisan crafts to speciality foods, you’ll visit a local chocolatier for a very special chocolate tasting. Once you’re feeling refreshed, you’ll visit the famous Royal Naval College, where blockbusters and television shows were filmed.

Famous films you can spot the college’s Baroque architecture in include Pirates of the Caribbean, Napoleon, Thor, and Les Misérables, as well as iconic television shows such as Sherlock Holmes, The Crown, and Bridgerton.
