Overview

Are you looking to take your London experience to new heights? Take a ride on Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel in the heart of the city – a must-do on your London vacation.

Originally constructed as a temporary exhibit to celebrate the new millennium, the London Eye offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline that stretches as far as 25 miles on a clear day. That’s to Windsor Castle!

Standing at an impressive 135 metres (443ft) high, the London Eye boasts 32 glass pods that represent each one of London’s boroughs. Step into the spacious capsule, that’s completely enclosed and climate-controlled, and be transported to the heights of the city.

Spot the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, the clock tower housing Big Ben, and the gothic structures of the Houses of Parliament. Gaze out at other famous silhouettes such as the Shard, the winding River Thames, and the majestic dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral. These sights become even more magical at sunset or when night falls, and the city lights begin to twinkle.

Booking required

Please book your spot at least one day in advance as this attraction is extremely popular. We strongly recommend booking as early as possible – you can make a reservation through the Go City app up to 15 days before your visit. Due to high demand, same-day and next-day bookings are often unavailable. Please ensure that your pass is valid at the time of your reservation.

Please note:

Important: if you are travelling with children aged 2 to 4, although they won’t have a pass, they will still be charged admission by The London Eye. Tickets can be purchased at the self-service ticket kiosks in The London Eye main ticket office. Please allow extra time to purchase these tickets prior to your booked timeslot.

No problem. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 15 minutes before the scheduled booking. Please remember to arrive at your scheduled time slot for the best entry experience.

: Getting in
With your confirmed Go City reservation, make your way to Entrance A, located outside the London Eye – you can’t miss it, it’s a blue gazebo. Here, you'll have your pass scanned and validated. Keep your confirmation email handy in case you’re asked to show that as well. Once your pass has been validated, you’ll join the line for security before boarding your pod. Even with a confirmed timeslot, wait times from scanning to boarding can be up to 30 minutes.
Please be aware that London Eye needs to be booked at least one day before your visit to secure your spot. You can make a reservation in our app up to 15 days in advance.
: Can you sit down on the London Eye?
Yes, the London Eye pods have a bench inside so you can sit down during the ride. You can also stand and move around the pods to enjoy the views.
Is the London Eye ride scary?
The London Eye isn’t considered to be scary. It moves very slowly and smoothly with no sudden drops or fast movements. The capsules are fully enclosed, so you won’t be exposed to the outside. If you feel a little nervous, there’s a bench to sit on inside.
How many people fit in one car of the London Eye?
Each London Eye capsule holds up to 25 people with enough space to sit down and move around. If you’re travelling in a small group, you’ll likely be sharing your capsule with other visitors.
How long is a full ride on the London Eye?
A full rotation on the London Eye takes about 30 minutes.
