Discover the story of Ramses II, one of Ancient Egypt’s most powerful and influential rulers. Known as Ramses the Great, his remarkable 66-year reign during the 13th century BC left an enduring mark on Egyptian history through military achievements, monumental architecture and an unrivalled legacy of royal grandeur.
This exhibition at Battersea Power Station's purpose-built NEON venue brings his world to life through around 180 extraordinary artefacts and antiquities on loan from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Explore a fascinating collection of treasures, including gold funerary masks, ornate silver coffins from the royal tombs of Tanis, beautifully preserved animal mummies, monumental sculptures, and intricate jewellery such as rings, necklaces and amulets.
Along the way, uncover the story of Ramses' rise to power, his military campaigns and the myths and traditions that helped shape his lasting legacy. It's a captivating journey into the splendour and intrigue of Ancient Egypt.

The Coffin of Ramses II
A true ‘wow’ exhibit – Ramses the Great’s perfectly preserved 3,000-year-old wooden coffin sees the pharaoh represented as Osiris, god of the underworld.
The Limestone Colossus
Cutting an imposing figure in carved limestone, Ramses is depicted here wearing a regal headdress and false beard, with a dagger concealed in his belt.
The Battle of Kadesh
A virtual digital animation depicts one of the largest battles from Ramses II’s reign, a conflict that led to the world’s earliest known peace treaty.
